Celebrating the Launch of Tiger On Demand in West Huntingdonshire, UK
At Spare, we are thrilled to congratulate West Huntingdonshire on the official launch of Tiger On Demand, an innovative Demand Response Transport service that promises to transform how residents navigate their communities. This milestone represents a new chapter in public transport for the region, providing rural residents with flexible, reliable, and convenient travel options.
Bridging Gaps in Rural Connectivity
Tiger On Demand addresses a critical need for better connectivity in areas where traditional public transport struggles to meet demand. By replacing fixed routes with a Demand Response system, the service ensures that residents can travel between designated virtual bus stops when and where they need. This new flexibility will make it easier for people to access work, education, healthcare, and social opportunities.
A Partnership for Progress
This groundbreaking service is the result of a dynamic collaboration between WeMove, which operates the vehicles and the call center, and Spare, the technology partner powering the service. Our user-friendly platform enables seamless bookings through an app, online portal, or phone, making the service accessible to all residents.
Speaking about the launch, Mayor Dr. Nik Johnson said:
"Tiger On Demand is a game-changer for residents in our region, particularly those living in rural areas where traditional public transport options are limited. It offers a flexible, reliable, and affordable way to travel, giving people better access to work, education, healthcare, and social activities."
Working alongside the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority and Mayor Dr. Nik Johnson has been an incredible opportunity to bring Spare’s expertise in Demand Response Transport to one of the UK’s most ambitious rural mobility projects. We are proud to play a role in delivering a service that prioritizes flexibility and accessibility.
A Bright Future Ahead
West Huntingdonshire residents can start using Tiger On Demand now, and more zones across the region will soon benefit from this service, including Fenland, East Cambridgeshire, and South Cambridgeshire. This expansion will further improve mobility across rural communities, ensuring more people can access the services and opportunities they need.
Congratulations again to West Huntingdonshire, the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority, and our partner WeMove on this incredible achievement. We’re excited to continue this journey together and look forward to seeing the positive impact Tiger On Demand will have on the community.
We’ve never had all departments agree that something is working before—until Spare. It’s always been a challenge to get buy-in from everyone, but with this new system, drivers, call takers, and management are all on board. The collaboration with Spare has been amazing, and we’re seeing the results every day.
