Spare is partnering with Metropolitan Council to elevate microtransit services in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area. For context, Metropolitan Council is a major player in public transit, ranking as the second-largest provider in the U.S. for demand-response miles covered. They’re crucial to keeping the region connected and ensuring that transit is accessible to those who need it most.

Flexibility and Connectivity at the Core

Metropolitan Council is moving forward with a more flexible approach to microtransit, starting with key areas like North Minneapolis, Woodbury, and Roseville. Spare Platform will power these services with an ADA-compliant rider app and seamless tools for drivers and dispatchers, creating a better, more connected experience. The Council needed a solution that could adapt as their needs evolved. Multimodal integration and dispatch flexibility were essential, and our platform was built with those priorities in mind.

The broader goal is to strengthen connections to existing transit networks, like Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and Light Rail Transit (LRT) corridors, enhancing mobility options across the region.
